In this blog post, I read A Fable for the Living Dear Taylor-Crews I know that I don’t usually talk to myself like this but I wanted to make things right. I’m glad I made it this far by graduating from high school and attending college. I’m glad that you didn't give up on anything and stuck to being a young role model for your family by not letting them down. I’m glad your setting an example for your younger ones to never giving up. Never stay down even if we faIl because we can overcome anything that comes in our way. I know over the years I have been on this crazy roller coaster going up and down through life but I wanted say even though I had my lows and highs I’m glad I’m still fighting and pushing through obstacles that stand in my way. You came a long way from ugly handwriting writing, bad grammar, boring material and sometimes not even feeling like writing at all but now I feel like we’ve gotten better and still growing . You tend to write when your down or inspired by something so you like to write lyrics in your book at home or in your phone so you won’t forget it. But I think It’s time that you get out of your comfort zone and expand your horizons with writing. I don’t think it’s bad that you look too music to express your feelings when you wanna write but everything isn’t about music through life. People will always need music to be productive with anything they wanna do. I understand that you want to help that but I feel like you should help yourself first so you can help others. You are going to get better at not being concerned or afraid that you have a paper or essay coming up, you are going to put as much time as you do in music in everything you do with writing assignments. I know that if you can make a song you can write an essay, it's all about planning and what your trying to stay to your audience. I feel like I just have to put the time in and say that i really want to do this by not procrastinating and not trying to do it at the last minute. I’m a start early and get it done. We have ups and downs on this roller coaster of life but I think he’ll be just fine if we work together and try our best because I see good things coming towards him in the future. Sincerely Taylor-Crews

I appreciate the connections made between song writing and writing an essay for a college composition course: how both require planning, commitment, and belief you can get the work done. A few questions:

I love how empowering this is for yourself. I also had a lot of pressure put on me because of a big family. So happy to see someone else powering through that.

I like how you started the letter off by stating the accomplishments you are most proud of. I could definitely relate to turning to music for everything, because I'm also always listening to music, Hopefully this class will make all of us better writers in the end,
